On Friday 26 June, Professor Michael McCourt, Chief Executive of NHS Nightingale North West, led a ceremony marking the hospital’s move into standby.

Colleagues joined both in person and via Zoom. Thanking them for their dedication, Professor McCourt said:

“I know I am not alone in saying this – that being part of the Nightingale has been something special. I truly believe our teamwork has been second to none.

“I would like to thank every member of our team for stepping forward at this time of need: for your dedication to this hospital, our patients and each other.”

The ceremony ended with a special mention for all Nightingale STARs awards, followed by a special poem written by Judith Ellis, Family Liaison Lead.
