Message from our Chief Executive
Since our last newsletter in August we have seen the number of confirmed COVID 19 cases increase across the country. Additional measures have been implemented nationally by the Government and many areas across the North West have had increased local lockdown measures introduced. As an Executive Team we continue to meet fortnightly to review our readiness to reactivate and report to the regional team. Any decision to reactivate will be made by NHS England and Improvement. We can confirm that while there are currently no plans to reopen the Nightingale, this is under review. We will of course keep you updated when we have further information.
In the meantime, I would encourage you to take five minutes to complete our standby Staff Pulse Survey. This standby survey is a really useful way of helping us to check in with you, to see how you are feeling and understanding our preparedness should we be asked to reactivate. It is a short survey with a series of ‘1 to 5’ scored questions, which will take about five minutes to complete. They should not be thought about for long – we are looking for your honest gut response. Your individual responses will NOT be identifiable, and we will receive a report that summarises all the feedback. We would really welcome your input. Click here to complete the survey today. The survey is open from today until the extended date of 5 October 2020.
Lastly, following our last team brief on Monday 7 September we agreed there is no longer a need for virtual briefing session due to our ongoing standby position. Going forward we will continue to keep in touch with you via this monthly newsletter, copies of which will continue to be updated on the Staff Hub.
Until next time,
Best wishes,
Professor Michael McCourt
Chief Executive

Accessing photographs taken at NHS Nightingale Hospital North West
Throughout the life of NHS Nightingale Hospital North West, from build to standby, we have been fortunate to have a photographic record taken by award-winning Manchester-based photographer Joel Goodman.
Almost all of these photographs feature staff members either individually or in groups with colleagues and/or patients. A number of staff members have requested access to these photographs.
All photographs taken at NHS Nightingale North West are now available to view here.
Please note that you cannot download photographs from this site.
If you would like to receive a high-resolution copy of any photograph, please e-mail [email protected] quoting the full file names of the images you request. Please note we cannot send any image in which patients are visible.
Photographs are shared for personal use only. This means:
- You are authorised to display the photographs at home or in your personal workspace
- You are authorised to use an image of yourself on your personal social media accounts. If any other colleagues are visible on the photo, you must gain their permission before sharing it on social media.
- You are not authorised to share the photographs for publication by any other NHS organisation or by any external organisation.
The distribution process is managed by Camilla Sutcliffe, External Communications Manager, with support as necessary from NHS North West and Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust.
