From Monday 15 June 2020 all staff and visitors will be required to wear a face mask at all times when on the Nightingale hospital site.
This change has been mandated by the government to help reduce the risk of transmission of COVID-19.
Disposable face masks will be provided to staff and visitors at the entrances to the hospital.
You should sanitise your hands and don the face mask provided as you enter the building.
When leaving the building please dispose of the face mask in a yellow clinical waste bin at the exit, then sanitise your hands.
Masks should not be reused – if you remove your mask please dispose of it in a yellow clinical waste bin, wash or sanitise your hands, and obtain a replacement from the Interserve helpdesk in the main lobby.
When you should wear a mask
You will need to wear the face mask constantly when in the building, unless:
- You are working in an office by yourself
- You are eating or drinking
- You exchange the face mask for appropriate PPE when entering the red zone (disposable masks are available in the doffing area for staff leaving the red zone)
You do not need to wear a face mask when you are outside the building.
When in the auditorium the presenter does not need to wear a mask, and the first few rows of seats will be out of use to ensure a safe distance can be maintained.
You are advised to make phone calls or participate in Teams meetings in a space where no others are present, so you can speak without wearing a mask.
It remains the case that you should not come to work if you have symptoms of COVID-19.
Recommended practice for wearing a face mask
- First wash or sanitise your hands
- Then don the face mask, avoiding touching your face especially your mouth, nose and eye
- Ensure the mask fully covers your nose and mouth
- Don’t let it dangle around your neck
- Avoid touching the front of the mask when wearing it
- Replace the face mask if it is soiled
- Don’t reuse the mask
- Remove the mask when leaving the building and dispose of it in a yellow clinical waste bin
- Finally wash or sanitise your hands
Exceptional circumstances
If you have a disability or health condition that prevents you wearing a face mask you do not need to wear one, but you should take extra care to maintain a two metre distance.
If you are communicating with a colleague who lip reads please remove your face mask during the interaction, and maintain a two metre distance. Following the interaction dispose of the face mask, sanitise your hands and don a fresh mask.
Visitors
Please advise any visitors that they will need to wear a face mask when onsite, G4S colleagues will provide further details when arranging their security pass.
We will initially provide disposable face masks, however we are expecting supplies of reusable face masks, at which point this guidance will be updated.
You should only wear the face mask providing by the Nightingale, please do not bring any face coverings or alternative masks from home.
Thank you for your support and co-operation in keeping us all safe,
